THE Cagayan de Oro City Health Office (CHO) has recorded three new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city, bringing the total confirmed cases to 73.
Among the three new Covid cases is a 49-year-old male from Barangay Agusan who is the husband of the 27th case, the 44-year-old coronavirus-positive woman.
The second new case is a 54-year-old male returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Nazareth.
According to CHO Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, the man arrived on June 22 in Manila where he was swabbed. The test yielded negative result. He was swabbed in Cagayan de Oro on July 5 and the result came out positive.
The man is due to be transferred from the city isolation unit to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.
The third new case is a 27-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan. The woman is an administrative worker from a government institution in Cagayan de Oro.
Retuya said she was swabbed on July 2 along with all the employees of the said agency. The result came out positive. She is due to be transferred from the city isolation unit to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.
The CHO has identified seven close contacts of the 27-year-old woman who will also be brought to the city isolation unit.
Retuya said focused containment will be implemented for 14 days in an area in Barangay Kauswagan.
Meanwhile, a 66-year-old male locally stranded individual (LSI) from Pasig City has also tested positive for the virus and was admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on Monday, July 6.
NMMC medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha said the patient is a referral from the city isolation unit, where he stayed for one day and was transferred to the NMMC on the evening of July 5 due to complaints of loss of appetite, vomiting and arthritis.
The man was swabbed at the NMMC and tested positive. He was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk). He also has comorbidities of hypertension and chronic kidney disease.
At present, Rocha said the patient's status is guarded due to the progression of his pneumonia.
