13 more Coast Guard personnel positive for coronavirus

THIRTEEN more personnel of Coast Guard District Central Visayas have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus causing the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The results came out Monday night, July 6, after a test was conducted on all personnel assigned at the Coast Guard headquarters in Cebu.

"Overall, 31 PCG personnel in Central Visayas have already succumbed to Covid-19, most likely having caught the disease while on their tour of duty," the Coast Guard District Central Visayas said in a statement.

It added that two of the 31, however, have tested negative for the virus on their second test of RT-PCR. The remaining 28 "are now on designated quarantine facilities," it said.

Of the 28, 14 are symptomatic, exhibiting mild symptoms of the disease.

"This, however, would not hamper the delivery of public service by the PCG Central Visayas personnel who are deployed and on duty at seaports, airport and road checkpoints," the Coast Guard District Central Visayas said. (PR)
