Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 76

THE number of confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro City has risen to 76,, as two locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) tested positive for the virus, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said.

The first new case is a 45-year-old male LSI from Parañaque City and a resident of a gated community in Barangay Carmen.

He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on June 30 and was brought to the city isolation unit where he was swabbed. The RT-PCR test result came out positive.

The man, at present, is asymptomatic. Retuya said contact tracing of his co-passengers is ongoing.

The second case is a 49-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Lower Balulang. He arrived at the NAIA on June 21 where he was swabbed. His test result, which came out on June 25, read negative.

He was quarantined in a hotel in Pasay City from June 21 to 27. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 28 via plane and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit.

The man was swabbed on July 4 and the RT-PCR test result on July 6 came out positive. He is asymptomatic and is due for transfer to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The third case is a 23-year-old male LSI from Parañaque City and a resident of a subdivision in Barangay Cugman.

He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on June 28 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He was swabbed on July 4 and his test result came out positive on July 6.

Retuya said the patient is asymptomatic and due for transfer to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Meanwhile, three patients in Northern Mindanao Medical Center have tested negative for Sars-CoV-2: a 62-year-old male who was discharged from the ER level, a 67-year-old male and a 52-year-old male.

All of them are residents of Cagayan de Oro City.
