Vicente: Audienceless sports

ALTHOUGH only a few sports events resumed in other countries, many have accepted that audienceless events are the only way in getting back on track while hoping for a full live audience soon.

Many event organizers say it's their way back to normal as large crowd gathering is still banned under the present health protocol.

Event organizers add they must go through this transition for them to restart rather than being shutoff entirely until this pandemic is over saying "it is so much like starting from scratch but it is better than shutting down indefinitely. We just have to believe, hope and pray that this ends soon with a cure or a vaccine available. Protocols would surely ease and getting our physical audience back in the sits could be possible again, still better safe than sorry, and better than nothing. We will be back soon. We must hang on and believe."

Athletes in both amateur and professional are already back on their training with adjustments and necessary changes.

There are still no clear guidelines when will events in the amateur level resumes but in the professionals, they have already started with some odd adjustments and echoing venues living with the classic saying "the show must go on" while relying on media to broadcast their events which is somehow working because most are staying home locked on their gadgets and their social media accounts.

There will definitely be a change and there should be a change even with a cure or a vaccine available. Health consciousness should make an impact not only in sports.

It's about time that we act on the lesson we learned from this recent Covid-19 pandemic and the Spanish Flu of 1918.

When we can be with the crowd again, when we can shout and scream with cheers again, when we can feel and experience the hype and vibe of a live event again, let the echoing walls and corners of the arenas remind us to be responsible and more vigilant about health so that we can enjoy the crowd.

Let us not be just social beings but be responsible health conscious social beings.
