Cagayan de Oro lists more cases

TEN new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Cagayan de Oro City, wherein two are returning overseas Filipino workers and eight are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said.

The total number of confirmed cases in the city is now at 89.

The 80th case is a 35-year-old male LSI from Bulacan and a resident of Barangay Bugo. He arrived via sea travel in Cagayan de Oro on July 2.

According to Retuya, the man has a sore throat and productive cough. He was treated in the city isolation unit and is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF).

The 81st case is a 31-year-old male LSI from Bulacan and a resident of Barangay Carmen. The man is a co-passenger of the 80th case, Retuya said.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 2 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He is asymptomatic and for transfer to the TTMF.

The 82nd case is a 37-year-old male LSI from Batangas and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 2 and was brought to the city isolation unit. The man is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 83rd case is a 29-year-old male LSI from Quezon City and a resident of Barangay Canitoan.

According to Retuya, the man is a security guard who stayed in Rodriquez, Rizal when Manila was under enhanced community quarantine.

The asymptomatic man is a co-passenger of the 82nd case and arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 2. He was brought to the city isolation unit and is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 84th case is a 40-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Tablon. He arrived in NAIA on June 28, was swabbed and tested negative.

The man stayed in a quarantine area in Makati City for five days. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 2 and was brought to the city isolation unit.

The 40-year-old asymptomatic man is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 85th case is a 21-year-old male LSI from Santa Mesa, Manila and a resident of Barangay Macabalan. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on June 29 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He is asymptomatic and set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 86th case is a 48-year-old male LSI from ParaƱaque and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on June 29.

The asymptomatic man was brought to the city isolation unit and is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 87th case is a 34-year-old female LSI from Pasay City and a resident of Barangay Canitoan. She arrived at the Laguindingan on June 30 and was brought to the city isolation unit.

He is asymptomatic and is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 88th case is a 44-year-old male LSI from Makati and a resident of Barangay Macabalan.

According to Retuya, the man is a construction worker who underwent a rapid diagnostic test during the second week of June. The result came out negative.

The man arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 2 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He is asymptomatic and set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 89th case is a 32-year-old male ROF and a resident of Barangay Macasandig. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 1 and was brought to the city isolation unit. He is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

Meanwhile, a mother and her child who are from outside Cagayan de Oro have tested positive for the virus and stayed in the city isolation unit.

The mother is a 32-year-old ROF from the Middle East and her child is a two-year-old girl.

Their home address is in Poblacion, Makati City but the husband of the 32-year-old woman has an address in Barangay Canitoan.

The mother and her child arrived in NAIA on June 1 and underwent quarantine for 11 days in a hotel. They were swabbed on June 4 and their test result read positive.

They were reswabbed on June 14 and the result was still positive. On the third swab test on June 24, the result came out negative.

They were released from their quarantine and arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 1.

The mother and her child were brought to the city isolation unit and were swabbed on July 6. The result came out positive.

Both of them are asymptomatic.

City Health Officer-in-Charge Dr. Lorraine Nery said 74 percent or 66 out of the 89 confirmed cases in Cagayan de Oro consisted of ROFs and LSIs, while 24 percent or 21 confirmed cases are local cases.
