Barter to Share: Satisfy your cravings, help at the same time

THREE months and counting, and Cebu City is still under enhanced community quarantine. But amid the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, Cebuanos still continue to help one another through donation drives and fundraising campaigns, to name a few, in order for everyone to “heal as one.”

There’s this one initiative that allows a person to satiate his food cravings and help at the same time.

Homegrown brands D Bear Tea and Tee and Oppa’s Kitchen Cebu, led by Island Creatives PR, launched Barter To Share, a campaign that aims to assist less fortunate brothers and sisters who either were retrenched or are currently no-work, no-pay employees.

One can barter his five canned goods for one grande-sized D’Bear Tea and Tee milk tea, or five kilos of rice for any meal from Oppa’s Kitchen and one grande-sized D’Bear Tea and Tee milk.

In the beginning, the team was just visiting hospitals and the Armed Forces to give food to the frontliners, but later felt the need to help further. In order for the team to walk the talk, they came up with Barter To Share.

“When companies were closing and people were losing jobs, our company was hiring and earning—not as much but at least we are still in operation, so we are just so grateful. It is not easy to be in this pandemic when we have a faceless enemy. We are blessed, so we just want to give back as early as now. Let’s show that Cebuanos have other great traits. Cebuanos help each other no matter what,” shared Adrian Diongzon, one of the founders of Island Creatives PR.

Adrian, together with his team, lined up communities and families all around Cebu City as their beneficiaries. On the last week of June, the team was able to provide relief goods to 41 Covid-19 patients in an isolation center in Mabolo.

Barter To Share aims to gather more goods as it eyes to help more Cebuanos who are deeply affected by this pandemic.
