Moralde enters The Bubble

ANOTHER Filipino pug is seeing action inside The Bubble of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Former World Boxing Council (WBC) ABC Continental featherweight champion John Vincent Moralde faces off with Mexican prospect Alexis Del Bosque in an eight-round fight in another Top Rank show on July 17, 2020 (PH time).

“Moralde has a big chance (of winning). He’s been training every day for months now. He’s preparing for a fight at the end of this month. This fight was on short notice, but he’s already ready,” said Sanman Promotions chief executive officer JC Manangquil, Moralde’s manager and promoter.

Moralde has been training at the Moro’s Gym and Fight Center in Miami, Florida. He trained alongside fellow Sanman Gym stablemates “Magic” Mike Plania, Mark Bernaldez, Reymart Gaballo and James Bacon.

The 26-year-old Moralde last saw action on Dec. 21, 2019 and stopped Matias Agustin Arriagada in one round. He has won back-to-back contests since suffering a third round technical knockout loss to Xavier Martinez in early 2019.

Moralde has fought the likes of World Boxing Organization (WBO) super featherweight champion Jamel Herring, Xavier Martinez and Toka Khan Clary.

Del Bosque has won his four straight fights against Daniel Perales, Pedro Amigon, Darryl Hayes and Eduardo Rafael Reyes. He, however hasn’t fought any elite opponents.

“Moralde is more technically skilled than him,” said Manangquil of Moralde’s advantage over Del Bosque.

Moralde is 23-3 with 13 knockouts, while the 25-year-old Del Bosque is 17-5 with nine knockouts.

The show is headlined by a 10-rounder between Pinoy veteran Marjohn Yap (30-15, 15 KOs) against three-time world title challenger Miguel Marriaga (29-3, 25 KOs). (EKA)
