Courier firm bolsters Cebu City's fight vs Covid-19

LOCAL express delivery firm, J&T Express Philippines, recently donated surgical masks and rapid test kits to Cebu City’s local government in an effort to stave off the spread Covid-19.

Cebu City officials, headed by Mayor Edgardo Labella, formally received 200,000 surgical masks and 10,000 FDA-approved rapid test kits from J&T Cebu officers in a turnover ceremony held at the Cebu City Hall on Monday, July 13.

The initiative marks one of the largest rapid test kit donation by a private company to the Cebu City Government during the pandemic.

J&T Express, which started operations in 2015, is among the fastest growing e-commerce delivery service providers in the country and Southeast Asia.

Its previous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects include donation of rice and clothes to displaced families in Batangas due to Taal Volcano and partnership with World Vision for the children in Baseco, Manila.

As of July 10, 2020, Cebu City posted a total of 7,246 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 3,650 recoveries. (PR)
