Gunmen shoot businessman in Pagadian City

A BUSINESSMAN was shot and wounded at the public market in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported on Monday, July 13.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as Saturnino Cantilan Panugalon, 64, a resident of Purok Talisay, Kawit village Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez says investigation showed that Panugalon was buying a clay pot at Ansay Store at the Agora public market along Pulmones Street, Purok Rosas, San Pedro, Pagadian City, around 5:50 p.m., Sunday, July 12, when by two unidentified gunmen shot him from behind.

She said the suspects carted away the victim’s gold necklace worth P25,000 and gold bracelet valued at P21,000.

She said the suspects, armed with caliber .45 pistols, escaped aboard a motorcycle towards the village of Santiago.

She said investigation continues aimed to establish the identities of the suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
