97th case's partner now in isolation

THE common-law partner of the 97th case has been found and was brought to the city isolation unit, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Tuesday, July 14.

The man ran away after he left his partner at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on Monday, July 13. He was located through the efforts of imam Mohammad Gondarangin, who sits in Cagayan de Oro City's Local School Board, according to Mayor Oscar Moreno.

"I thank him (Mohammad Gondaragin) for helping locate the husband who submitted himself to quarantine," Moreno said.

"I am also working with Barangay 35 captain Arnold Ligtas to facilitate the delivery of food packs straight to the homes of these residents just so they can stay at home during the quarantine," he added.

Swab will be taken from the man, together with the 97th case's close contacts, five days after.

The 97th case is a 30-year-old female resident of Barangay 35 who was a sidewalk vendor at Cogon Market.

She was brought to the JR Borja General Hospital around noon of July 12, after she experienced vomiting and episodes of loss bowel movement (LBM), approximately 10 times per day, for four days.

The 30-year-old woman was transferred to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center around 1:35 a.m. of July 13.

Five sitios of Barangay 35 were placed under localized focused containment.

Moreno also called on the cooperation of the residents of the five zones of Barangay 35, saying there are areas in the barangay that are densely populated and houses clustered close together, raising the risk of the residents being infected and transmitting the virus.

"Kinahanglan masabtan natong tanan labi na diha sa area nga this containment can be very challenging kung dili magkooperar and katawhan. Importante gyud ang kooperasyon sa katawhan," Moreno said.

"Hangyo sa tanan, please ayaw i-defy ang kwarantina, I have given instructions sa kapulisan ug sa atong disaster risk reduction nga ato gyud ning atimanun og ayo," he added.
