Bacolod finalizes Covid-19 exit plan

THE City Government of Bacolod is now finalizing its exit plan as the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) will end Wednesday, July 15.

Councilor Archie Baribar, chairperson of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Exit Plan, said Tuesday, July 14, that they will evaluate and study the present situation so they can make recommendations on what they will do after July 15.

"It's either we continue our present situation or increase the intensity of our measures against Covid-19," he said.

He added that based on the present situation, the city is not yet ready to lift the quarantine because of the new cases of Covid-19.

As of July 13, Bacolod City has a total of 62 cases of Covid-19 and most of them were locally stranded individuals (LSI) and overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

Baribar said they were frustrated on how the national policy handled the LSIs and returning residents.

"We will hold a meeting and we will consider the national policy and the local situation so we can come up with a proposal to be submitted to the mayor," he said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier issued Executive Order 45 for the second extension of the modified general community quarantine in the city from June 30 to July 15, 2020.
