Naawan town logs 2 new Covid-19 cases

TWO persons residing in Naawan, Misamis Oriental have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the town to three.

The second confirmed case involves a 39-year-old male resident of Purok 2, Patag, Naawan.

According to the Local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), the man has no history of travel abroad, but he was identified as one of the close contacts of the 80-year-old man, the first Naawan case.

He went through a rapid diagnostic test on July 12 and the result was positive. RT-PCR test was conducted on the same day and the result came out positive on July 14.

The man is asymptomatic and, at present, staying at the town's Local Isolation and General Treatment Area. His home residence was placed under focused containment to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The third case is a 57-year-old male resident of Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Naawan. He has no history of travel abroad and was also identified as one of the close contacts of the first Naawan case.

Rapid diagnostic test was conducted and the result read positive. The man was swabbed on July 12 and the result came out positive on July 14.

The asymptomatic man is currently staying at the Local Isolation and General Treatment Area.

A portion of Antonio Acera Street in Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion was also placed under localized containment.

The local IATF urged the public to observe the minimum health standards, which include handwashing, physical/social distancing and staying at home.
