AGDAO is on the verge of a hard lockdown due to the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview Wednesday, July 15.

Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on Davao City Disaster Radio that with the increasing cases in Agdao, authorities are discussing if a hard lockdown in the area is necessary.

But she said the Covid-19 situation in the area is still manageable.

"Bago magpanic ang mga tao, it is still a discussion lang, weighing kung gikinahanglan ba or unsa pa bay pwedeng laing buhaton bago ka istoryahan ang hard lockdown (Before the public panic, I would like to clarify that this is still under discussion. We are weighing in measures we could do before we talk about implementing a hard lockdown)," Duterte-Carpio said.

Currently, Barangay 23-C is the lone barangay in the city placed under a hard lockdown since July 14 after being tagged as the city's Covid-19 hotspot due to the increasing Covid-19 transmission within the community.

The mayor has no information on the recent development on 23-C, including the possibility of its extension.

The mayor, however, was not able to elaborate whether the Agdao she is referring to is the entire Agdao District, or the barangay, which is the Agdao Proper.

Based on the Department of Health-Davao Region's patient profile as of July 13, the entire district has a total of 113 recorded total Covid-19 cases. Of this number, 85 have already recovered, 24 are active cases, and four already died.

Agdao District, composed of 11 barangays, has two barangays declared under the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Risk Assessment Map as "very high risk areas." These are Leon Garcia and Agdao Proper.

In the breakdown of Covid-19 cases, Leon Garcia remains to have the most Covid-19 cases in Agdao District with 45 cases. Of this number, 38 have already recovered, six are active cases, and one has died.

Agdao Proper comes second with 28 total cases, wherein 22 have already recovered and six are active cases. No deaths were recorded yet in the barangay.

Barangay Gov. Vicente Duterte, meanwhile, recorded 11 cases, wherein six have already recovered, three are active cases, and two have died.

Other barangays in the Agdao area with Covid-19 cases are Centro (4), Gov. Paciano Bangoy (6), R. Castillo (1), San Antonio (8), Ubalde (2), and Wilfredo Aquino (8).

Barangays Kap. Tomas Monteverde Sr. and Lapu-Lapu remain to be "Covid-19 free" as of Wednesday, July 15.
