THE Province of Guimaras received 1,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs) from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on July 15, 2020 as the island province battles the Covid-19.

OCD-Western Visayas Director Jose Roberto Nuñez personally delivered the PPEs to the Provincial Capitol in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.

Nuñez said the PPEs were from the Department of Health and will be utilized for the frontliners of the Province of Guimaras in fighting the deadly coronavirus.

Governor Samuel Gumarin, who personally received the set, expressed gratitude to the Department of Health and the OCD.

"Daku ini nga bulig para sa aton away batok sa Covid-19. Ang Probinsiya sang Guimaras naga pasalamat gid sa aton mga agencies, kay Director Nuñez sa pag-ulikid sa aton mga frontliners paagi sini nga donasyon," Gumarin said.

The donated boxes include surgical masks, coveralls, gloves, goggles, shoe and head covers.

Guimaras has deployed hundreds of frontliners manning the screening posts at all ports of entry and the quarantine facilities of the island.

As of Wednesday, July 15, the province remains free from Covid-19.

Gumarin said the frontliners are one of the reasons why the island remains free of the deadly virus, thus they shall be equipped with personal protective equipment. (PR)
