Apparently miffed over allegations of a possible violation of quarantine protocols by his team, Blackwater Elite team owner Dioceldo Sy has disclosed that he is putting up the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team for sale.

Sy has placed a price of P150 million for his team, just six years after joining the PBA.

It remains to be seen whether Sy’s decision is a reaction to the PBA’s request that the team explain itself after the owner revealed in an online interview that the Elite have began training sessions. The Games and Amusement Board has also chimed in and has threatened to slap a sanction on the basketball team for the alleged violation.

The PBA has yet to give the go-signal for teams to commence training even though the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) has already approved the proposal for PBA teams to start working out in small batches.

In the last five seasons, the Elite have made the playoffs three times but has failed to make it past the quarterfinal stage.

However, the team has assembled a young, exciting core that features Cebuano stalwarts and former University of the Visayas Baby Lancers Paul Desiderio and Ron Dennison. (JNP)
