Abelardo to see action in One Championship

FIL-KIWI Mark Abelardo will face Brazilian Fabricio Andrade in the undercard of One Championship’s return from the Covid-19 pandemic lull on July 31, 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Abelardo, born in New Zealand to Filipino parents, looks to bounce back after losing his last fight, One Championship’s last show before the Covid-19 pandemic break. He lost by unanimous decision to Singapore-based American Troy Worthen in a closed-door show on Feb. 28, 2020 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The 28-year-old Abelardo, a product of Rich Franklin’s One Warrior Series, is 2-2 in the One Championship cage.

Andrade, in the meantime, is making his One Championship debut. He has won back-to-back fights, beating Chinese fighter Li Ge Teng and Xiatiha Zhumatai.

Both Abelardo and Andrade are based in Thailand. Aberlardo trains out of the Fairtex Pattaya, while Andrade is from Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp.

Abelardo is 19-7, while Andrade is 3-2.
