6 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Cagayan de Oro

FIVE locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, which causes coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Cagayan de Oro to 106.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said all of the LSIs and the ROF were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival in Cagayan de Oro and are, at present, asymptomatic.

The 101st case is a 25-year-old female LSI Cebu City and a resident of Barangay Balulang. She arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on July 8.

She is currently staying at the city isolation unit and is due to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility. The City Health Office has identified two close contacts of the patient, all of whom are also staying at the city isolation unit.

The 102nd case is a 28-year-old male LSI from Puerto Galera, Mindoro and a resident of Barangay Camaman-an. He is the husband of the 50th case, a 27-year-old woman who is also an LSI from Puerto Galera.

The man worked as a vendor in Puerto Galera. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 22. He was swabbed on June 30 and the result came out negative. The second swab also read negative, but the result of the third swab, which was conducted on July 14, came out positive.

His identified close contact is his wife and their two children.

The man is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 103rd case is an LSI from Puerto Galera, Mindoro and the child of the 102nd and 50th cases. The child's first swab result was negative.

The child was re-swabbed on July 14 and the result, which came out on Wednesday, July 15, read positive. Retuya said the child is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 104th case is a 30-year-old female LSI from Makati and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She underwent rapid diagnostic tests twice, both yielded negative results.

The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 17 via plane. She is currently at the city isolation unit.

The 105th case is a 46-year-old male ROF from Europe and a resident of Barangay Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City. He worked as a seafarer and arrived in NAIA on July 4. He was swabbed on the same day.

According to Retuya, the man went to a private hospital in Manila to be treated for his comorbidity. The patient is known hypertensive.

On July 7, his RT-PCR test result came out negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 9 and was swabbed on July 14. The result came out positive.

The 106th case is a 38-year-old male LSI from Pangasinan and a resident of Barangay Mambuaya. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 8 via plane.

The man has no known comorbidity and is currently staying at the city isolation unit.
