Trinidad: Date selection

ON JUNE 1, 2020, the day the new quarantine rules were set throughout the country, Master Aa already mentioned to me that it wasn’t a good day to start. The chances of us going into the second round of more rigid quarantines were high.

Looking at what’s happening now, I could only shake my head.

Last Saturday, on our way to the Central Business District, Master Aa and I had to make a detour because the P. Burgos entrance along Bokawkan was closed to traffic. The area was on lockdown.

On Monday, our entire barangay was also put on lockdown. Gratefully, they isolated the area where the Covid case was, and we who are out of the affected zone are back to being able to move in and out.

Last week, parts of Quezon Hill, Bakakeng and Loakan. Last night, Andres Bonifacio. There are more and more lockdowns due to increasing Covid cases.

What’s with the energy of June 1, 2020?

That day was a Pig day in the Snake month. Already there was a clash, signifying that there would be obstacles to the activity. And, the influence of the day meant that whatever was began would have challenging or complicated outcomes.

Which is exactly what’s happening.

The other night, Chiara sent me a news item about some Manila hospitals now full and unable to take in more Covid patients.

This morning, the news is that Manila itself may be returning to lockdown.

We had been expecting the curve to flatten, instead, there is a rise in infections. Those who have symptoms are being advised to go to the hospitals, which couldn’t accommodate them.

A difficult and complicated situation indeed.

Just how important is the day you begin an activity?

Very important, that even the Bible mentions timing. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8:

“To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

"A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

"A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

"A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

"A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

"A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

"A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace."

Verse five hits me right in the gut — “a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing” —this is social distancing. No more beso-beso. Part of the new normal.

Many international brand name businesses and local ones have closed because of this new normal.

Even filming and editing, especially of K-dramas, C-dramas, lakorns have been shelved or delayed. (I’ve been looking forward to watching Zhao Liying and Wang Yibo in Legend of Fei. It’s by Priest who also wrote The Untamed.)

I mention these dramas because I’ve been bingeing on them when everyone was technically ordered to stay home.

From watching, I’ve gleaned that it is part of South Korea’s, China’s and Thailand’s culture to perform date selection for important activities, from weddings to travel, among others.

Thailand just announced that their last Covid patient has recovered. South Korea and China are managing to keep the outbreak under control.

I can’t help but wonder which dates they chose to start measures to contain the pandemic.

What about us?

Lockdowns, more Covid cases. Paranoia.

I have second thoughts about mingling with people. In the meantime, if I could avoid it, I would.

Chiara sent me another news clip about a patient from Bulacan who was not aware he had Covid, but came up to Baguio and went around the city.

Another complication.

Probably invited by the energy of June 1, 2020. The Snake and the Pig are related to travel and movement.

Most cases of Covid in Baguio are from people who traveled here.

What to do now?

Like our advice to clients who unintentionally opened their business on an inauspicious day: Totally close for a while, then open again on a good day.

Not just any good day as listed on the internet.

It has to be on a proper day, based on criteria about the energy of that day with the activity and the person/s involved.

Part of the services we offer to our clients is their personal almanac, applicable only to them. This includes when they should avoid major activities, or start new ones. Right now, we specify the dates they should avoid going out, or when they should take double care when they have to.
