Covid-19 recoveries in Eastern Visayas now at 93.25%

A TOTAL of 622 out of 667 patients with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have recovered in Eastern Visayas, as of Thursday, July 16, 2020.

The Department of Health (DOH)-Eastern Visayas said the recovery rate in the region is now at 93.25 percent.

In Libagon, Southern Leyte alone, the municipal health office announced the recovery and discharge of its last Covid-19 confirmed case identified as Patient EV-613.

“All remaining locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipino (ROF) have undergone RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) Swab Test and all turned out negative. Furthermore, all direct/close contacts have also undergone RT-PCR Swab Test and were all negative,” said the municipal health office on Thursday after it previously recorded 18 Covid-19 cases.

“Libagon, Southern Leyte is no longer at risk for local transmission,” it added.

Meanwhile, the two testing centers in the region reported 11 new confirmed Covid cases on Thursday evening.

Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center (EVRCTC) released a total of 214 laboratory results with 208 negative and six positive for the virus.

The cases are from Allen, Northern Samar (2); Capul, Northern Samar (1); Tarangnan, Samar (1); Motiong, Samar (1); and Pintuyan, Southern Leyte (1).

Divine Word Hospital Virology Laboratory (DWHVL) also released a total of 63 laboratory results with 56 negative and seven positive for Covid-19.

The positives include five new cases and two re-swab results of EV-527 from Capoocan, Leyte and EV-649 from Palo, Leyte.

The new cases are from Baybay City, Leyte (3); Mahaplag, Leyte (1); and Catbalogan City, Samar (1).

Most of the positive cases are identified as LSIs from Cebu City and National Capital Region.
