Guv: Negros Occidental may go back to GCQ

IF CASES of positive coronavirus disease continue to increase in Negros Occidental, the national IATF would downgrade the province to a stricter quarantine mode, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Thursday morning.

He said that he is not discounting the possibility that Negros Occidental may be reverted back to general community quarantine (GCQ).

That will mean we have to control the movement of people, Lacson said adding that "it would mean that they should stay at home."

"I hope we will not go back to a stricter mode. But we have to do what we have to do" he said.

"Lately, we have experienced local transmission," Lacson said.

He said he hopes that the provincial government can "control the increase of local transmission."

He further said he is supporting the recent decision of the national Inter- Agency Task Force to put the province under Modified Community Quarantine mild- risk.

"To put us under low risk will give a false sense of security for Negrenses," the governor pointed out

Lacson called on Negrenses "to be really extra careful now because local transmission is around."

If you have to go out because of work or buy essentials, let us really protect ourselves, he added.
