Cebu City government to release P1M cash aid to 80 SK chiefs

EIGHTY Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons in Cebu City will receive P1 million each from the City Government next week, an official said on Friday, July 17, 2020.

The P1 million financial assistance provided by the Cebu City government will help in realizing the SK’s projects in their barangays, said Cebu City Administrator Floro Casas.

Casas, who was tasked by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella to process and release the assistance, told SunStar Cebu that they will call members of the SK in the city’s 80 barangays next week for the distribution of the money.

But before they receive the financial assistance from the City, the SK chairpersons of the city will undergo a half-day financial management training, Casas added.

SK Federation president Jessica Resch said she is coordinating with Labella to have the cash aid released to her fellow SK chairpersons.

The financial assistance for the SK was part of the 2019 annual budget which was prepared by then mayor Tomas Osmeña just before his term ended.

The cash aid will be used to fund each barangay’s projects geared toward the youth. In Brgy. Babag, for example, SK officials plan to use the amount to help provide aid to the Babag Integrated School, to beautify their SK office and to acquire a new sound system, monobloc chairs, tables and computer sets, among others.(PAC / JKV)
