7 health workers, 12 others in Talisay positive for coronavirus

TALISAY City in Cebu reported 19 additional cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and seven new recoveries on Friday, July 17.

Of the 19 new cases, seven are health workers. One of them is a doctor.

The Talisay City Public Information Office identified the new patients as:

* PT 511 -- A 59-year-old female from Poblacion and a close contact of a confirmed case. She was admitted at the Talisay District Hospital last July 13, 2020 for shortness of breath. She has improved since admission and is recovering.

* PT 512 -- A 35-year-old female from Poblacion and a health care worker of a private hospital. She was swabbed last July 10, 2020 as part of routine screening. She is asymptomatic and will be transferred to her hospital quarantine facility.

* PT 513 -- A 48-year-old male from Poblacion and a health care worker of a private hospital. He was swabbed last July 10, 2020 as part of routine screening. He is asymptomatic and will be transferred to his hospital's quarantine facility.

* PT 514 -- Male from Barangay San Roque. He was admitted at TDH last July 13, 2020 for diarrhea and rapid breathing. He was swabbed the following day last July 14, 2020 and the result came out positive. The patient is currently stable and improving.

* PT 515 -- A 33-year-old male from San Isidro and a private company employee. He was swabbed last July 14, 2020 after exposure to a confirmed coronavirus-positive co-worker. He is asymptomatic and will be transferred to the Talisay quarantine facility Saturday, July 18.

* PT 516 -- A 35-year-old female from Cansojong and a health care worker of a private hospital. She was swabbed last July 10, 2020 as part of routine screening. She has mild influeza-like illness and will be transferred to her hospital quarantine facility.

* PT 517 -- A 61-year-old male and a doctor from Tabunok. He was admitted and swabbed last July 10, 2020 at South General Hospital for influenza-like illness. He was discharged last July 16, 2020.

* PT 518 -- A 51-year-old female from Lagtang. She was admitted at PSH for influenza-like illness last July 10, 2020. She was swabbed last July 13 and a rapid test was done last July 16 with IGG, hence discharged. She, however, is still advised to continue her quarantine for seven days.

* PT 519 -- A 75-year-old male from Tabunok and a dialysis patient. He was admitted and swabbed at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) last July 14 for severe acute respiratory infections (Sari).

* PT 520 -- A 22-year-old female from Barangay Pooc. She is a health care worker of a private hospital. She was swabbed last July 10 as a mandatory requirement in their workplace. She is asymptomatic and being isolated in the hospital.

* PT 521 -- A 36-year-old male from Lawaan 3 and a man in uniform. He was swabbed last July 10, 2020 for influenza-like illness symptoms.

* PT 522 -- A 36-year-old male from Barangay Linao. He was swabbed last July 14 for being a close contact of a positive case. He is asymptomatic and under quarantine.

* PT 523 -- A 29-year-old female from Lawaan 1. She was swabbed last July 13 for symptoms of influenza-like illness. She is under quarantine.

* PT 524 -- An 81-year-old female from Lawaan 1. She was brought to VSMMC due to loss of appetite and body weakness last July 14 and was swabbed on the same day. She later died.

* PT 525 -- A 28-year-old female from Lawaan 3 and a health care worker. She was swabbed last July 15 after she was exposed to a positive case.

* PT 526 -- A 67-year-old male from Mohon. He was admitted and swabbed last July 15 at VSMMC for Sari. She died last July 17, 2020.

* PT 527 -- A 19-year-old male from Lawaan 2. He was swabbed last July 15 per company's protocol. He is currently isolated at the VSMMC.

* PT 528 -- A 38-year-old female from San Roque. She was admitted in a private hospital last July 14 for dialysis. She was swabbed on the same date. She was previously consulted for various complaints, including hypertension and heart enlargement.

* PT 529 -- A 28-year-old male from San Roque and a private hospital worker. He was swabbed last July 11 as part of routine hospital protocols. Results came out positive today. He is completely asymptomatic but will be transferred to his hospital's quarantine facility.

The Department of Health-Central Visayas reported Friday, July 17, that Talisay City already has 617 total confirmed cases of Covid-19. The city remains under general community quarantine. (LMY)
