ARMAN Natividad beat Weben Velarde, 8-6, to capture the crown of the just-concluded Mayor Rody and Inday Sara Duterte Araw ng Dabaw 9-Ball Tournament held at the Jan Carlo Guevarra Billiard Hall along C. M. Recto St.
Natividad romped away with the top purse of P10,000, while Velardo went home with P5,000 cash prize in the three-day cuefest sponsored by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo and Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
Natividad booked a finals berth by ousting Robert Jorquin, 7-5, while Velarde also won on the same note over Cristino Orbita in the semi-finals round. Jorquin and Orbita each received P2,000 in the meet organized by the Davao Billiards Association, Inc. (DBAI).
In the quarterfinals, Natividad outclassed Rey Cahilog, 7-5, while Velardo demolished Reymar "Boy Lapuk" Aquino, 7-5. Orbita eliminated Michael Alia, 7-5, while Jorquin defeated Richard delos Reyes, 7-5. (MLSA)
