5 nabbed in anti-drug operations in Zamboanga

FIVE drug suspects were arrested and over P53,800 worth of substance believed to be shabu was seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Adrian Bernardo Sakili, 33; Myda Aking Abubakar, 39; Arnold Pilapil Tambang, 41; Arnel Salibat Gumogod, 25; and Jerriec Gumimpin, 25.

Cambay said Sakili was caught in possession of P7,000 worth of shabu, P300 marked money, a bicycle and a coin purse in a drug bust around 3:55 p.m. Saturday, July 18, in Calarian village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from Abubakar were P20,400 worth of shabu, and P1,500 marked money when arrested in a drug bust around 2:35 p.m. Saturday in Marketsite village, Isabela City, Basilan province.

Seized from Tambang were P4,500 worth of shabu and P300 marked money when arrested in an operation around 7:25 p.m. Saturday in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

Cambay said Gumogod was found in possession of P1,500 worth of shabu and P500 marked money when arrested in a drug bust around 9:20 p.m. Saturday in Sanito village, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Gumimpin was arrested around 9:37 p.m. Saturday in Poblacion village, Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte.

Recovered from him were P20,400 worth of dried marijuana leaves and P500 marked money.

The suspects were detained and appropriate charges are set to be filed against them, said Cambay. (SunStar Zamboanga)
