POLICE uprooted on July 18 P13.2 million worth of illegal weeds that were planted in three sites in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Police Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong, Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) provincial director, said the two-day operation is part of the Philippine National Police's intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

He said the problem is continuously addressed, especially with the increasing support of the community by reporting relevant information on illegal activities.

"This sustained marijuana eradication to affected areas is a continuous activity of our operatives to remove these plants to prevent it from growing again and until such time that these areas are all cleared," he added.

The two-day eradication of marijuana plantation in Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan resulted in the destruction and burning of 66,000 fully grown marijuana plants uprooted in a 4,500-square-meter lot. No cultivator was arrested during the operation.

The operation was conducted by joint personnel of Provincial Intelligence Unit/Drug Enforcement Unit Kalinga Police Provincial Office led by Lieutenant Luis Bulao, Tinglayan Municpal Police Station led by Police Captain Bede Dakiwas, Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, 1503rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ilocos, 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobil Force Command.
