Arrested ex-cop moved to General Santos jail

A RETIRED Maguindanao police provincial director, who was arrested in Davao City last week after he bolted jail in Sultan Kudarat, has been transferred to Lanton Reformatory Center in Apopong, General Santos City.

Senior Superintendent Pangelen Piang Adam was transferred based on the commitment order penned by Judge Antonio Guerrero of the Regional Trial Court Branch 20.

Senior Superintendent Pedro Austria, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Soccsksargen has ordered the San Isidro police to transfer Adam to the Lanton jail.

Adam was earlier detained after being accused of malversation of high-powered firearms found buried in private lands in Maguindanao after the November 2009 massacre.

The former police director, who escaped last February from the Sultan Kudarat provincial jail, was arrested Wednesday in a rented house at Gulf View Executive Homes in Bago Aplaya, Talomo District, Davao City.

Adam was sued along with three other police officers for fabricating a report that some 100 high-powered firearms were razed in a police armory fire in Shariff Aguak in 2008. Some of these firearms were among those found in the Ampatuan’s properties after the massive searches that followed the massacre. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
