THE Sto. Tomas Municipal Police Station (MPS) is preparing charges against two individuals who escaped the quarantine facility in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte, on the night of July 21, 2020, Tuesday.

Police Major Frederick Deles, chief of Sto. Tomas MPS, said they have rescued one of the escapees while the other one voluntarily returned to the quarantine facility.

"Na-bored na gyod sila and allegedly makigkita sila sa ilang uyab. Mogawas na unta ang resulta sa ilang test, apan kay nisibat sila, basin og naka direct contact na sab sila og magpaubos na sab sila sa 14-day quarantine. Giandam napod nato ang kaso nga ipasaka kanila, magdepende sa complainant nato nga mao kining Municipal Health Office, diri (They became bored and allegedly they met with their lovers. Their test results were about to arrive but they escaped. They might have contacted several people directly and they have to undergo a 14-day quarantine again. We are also preparing a case against them, depending on the complainant which is the Municipal Health Office here)," Deles said.

Based on the investigation, one of the escapees is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), while the other is a locally stranded individual (LSI).

They both used the canal at the back of Santo Tomas College of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology as their passageway to go out and meet with their lovers.

Deles also confirmed that the two will be facing a case for violating Republic Act (RA) 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases, Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

"Sa karon, anaa na sila sa atong quarantine facility, nagmahay sa ilang gihimo, imbes makagawas na sila kay pagawas na unta ilang resulta (Currently, the two are now inside the quarantine facility, remorseful, they should have been released after their results are out)," Deles said.
