School adopts online learning

A MACTAN-BASED educational institution has launched its online learning platform as a measure to adapt to the new way of learning.

Einstein School Cebu has temporarily shifted from the traditional learning to online learning through the introduction of eCloud EinsteinSchoolOnline (eCloud) learning framework to address the demand for education during these challenging times.

“It would be an understatement to say that the incoming school year will be a different one. Traditional classroom education must take a pause due to the risks it carries. As the health, safety and well-being of children are of primary importance to us, we at Einstein School Cebu immediately underwent extensive planning and preparation to make sure that we could continue to bring top-quality education to our learners through the best online means,” said Einstein School Cebu school directress Ethel Matugas.

Einstein School Cebu caters to preschool to senior high school students.

Boosting the school’s online shift is the upgraded school information technology infrastructure with enhanced internet facilities and a cloud server hosted in the US that is capable of managing up to 1,000 students and teachers simultaneously.

According to Matugas, most schools in Cebu and in the Philippines have transitioned towards online learning. However, she said there is more to eCloud that makes the learning platform go beyond what most schools in Cebu offer.

eCloud aims to bring the school’s curriculum online through Moodle, one of the world’s most popular learning management systems. This framework is said to ensure the ease and efficiency of the delivery of lessons to students and increase their participation.

“The eCloud framework gives children nothing less than top quality online education. Our students will learn differently this year — but they will learn nonetheless,” said Matugas. “And when—not if—but when this pandemic is over, our students will come out of it not racing to catch up with the world, but, rather, ready and equipped to lead it.”

Besides eCloud, Matugas added, the school also invested in several supplementary learning applications used by students all around the globe to further enrich students’ learning experience.

The school, she said, also has a pool of competent teachers who can assist students to perform well amid the new learning environment. (KOC)
