Diocese of Bacolod orders suspension of all diocesan clergy gatherings

AMID the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Bacolod City and parts of Negros Occidental, the Diocese of Bacolod Friday, July 24, 2020, announced the suspension of all diocesan clergy gatherings.

In a statement signed by Diocese Chancellor-Secretary Reverend Father Roy Christian Gesulgon, he said the suspension would be effective until further notice.

However, Gesulgon said Vicariate meetings would still be permissible as long as the minimum health protocols issued by the government are being followed.

The diocesan official also added that the resolution was made by Reverend Father Lou-an Torrefranca and was seconded by Father Julius Espinosa, with the majority of all the members present voting for its adoption.

Meanwhile, Gesulgon also stated that during the meeting, it was also agreed that the parishes and chaplaincies in the diocese are to organize a Holy Hour starting July 27, during President Rodrigo Duterte's 5th State of the National Address.

During the occasion, the priests are to read the official statement of the Diocese of Bacolod on the denial of the franchise application of ABS-CBN.

The diocese will also use the Holy Hour as part of the continuing call of Bishop Patricio Buzon for "prayerful vigilance."
