Teacher busted over 'shabu' in Leyte

POLICE arrested a 44-year-old public school teacher on Friday, July 24, 2020, after he allegedly peddled drugs to an undercover operative in Calubian, Leyte.

The suspect was identified as Aladin John “Kokoy” Ricaldo, single, elementary teacher, and listed as a street-level individual.

Purchased from the suspect was one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu as the subject of sale.

Also confiscated from his possession and control were 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a P500 bill, one piece P500 bill with serial number AD908523 used as buy-bust money and a pouch.

A representative from the Department of Justice and other barangay officials witnessed the inventory and markings of evidence at the place of arrest in the presence of the suspect, police said in a report.

The operating units include Calubian Municipal Police Station led by Chief Master Sergeant Edwin Mahait, Leyte Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit headed by Major Ariel Salarda, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the region.

The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
