Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 124

CAGAYAN de Oro has recorded another confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case involving an Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR).

This brings the number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the city to 124.

The 124th case is a 44-year-old male APOR and a resident of a gated community in Barangay Lumbia. According to City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, the man worked in a government agency where he was swabbed.

The result came out positive on July 24. Retuya said the man has showed sign and symptoms of the virus such as occasional cough and is bring treated.

At present, the 44-year-old man is in the city's Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office has identified two to three workplace contacts; three close household contacts; and an extended contact who is the masseur who provided massages to the 44-year-old man's home.

Retuya said the masseur was advised to undergo home quarantine.

Meanwhile, a non-resident of Cagayan de Oro also tested positive for Covid-19. The patient is a 31-year-old female APOR and a resident of a town in Misamis Oriental.

Retuya said the woman has a travel history to Manila. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 17 and was swabbed on July 23. The result came out positive on July 24.

The 31-year-old woman is staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said as of July 24, Cagayan de Oro has 60 active cases wherein one was admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center; five are outpatient; and 54 are returning overseas Filipino workers and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
