Kekert: Connected Women

A PHILIPPINE-based social impact tech start-up, Connected Women, prepares the future of work by training women with or without experience for positions that are essential in any program that uses AI (artificial intelligence). In partnership with the joint EU-UN Women program WeEmpowerAsia, the work training is part of the #WomenRiseAboveCovid program, an initiative that focuses on helping women through this pandemic.

With the help of private sector partners and local government units, the Connected Women community currently consists of 70,000 members from all over the country. To begin with, 70 members were chosen to be part of its initial training for Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation), a training for basic data labelling skills. In the new normal landscape, UN Women’s Ma. Rosalyn Mesina (WeEmpowerAsia Philippines country program manager) is hopeful that this project will provide more job opportunities for women.

Founded by Gina Romero, Connected Women is a social impact tech start-up that offers technology skills development and remote work opportunities to women. The company plans to train 200 women by the end of 2020 and more by 2021.
