Negros is a ‘Noynoy Aquino province’

TELEVISION host and actress Kris Aquino, sister of Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, said Tuesday that Negros is a “Noynoy Aquino” province.

Kris made the declaration in Silay City as she capped her two-day campaign in the province for her senator brother and running mate vice presidential bet Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas.

The second day of her campaign visit was concentrated at the northern part of the province up to Cadiz City.

Son Baby James and cousin, Lisa Cojuanco Cruz, along with Mar Roxas’s cousin Veana Fores, were not able to join the actress during Tuesday’s sortie. The three, however, were with Kris on Monday at the southern and central Negros.

Like in the south, thousands of supporters came to the campaign and stayed in the streets for the caravan.

More than 10,000 supporters joined during the two campaign venues that Kris visited in Cadiz City Gym and beside Cadiz City hotel.

Former Board member Corazon Diploma, who was in yellow shirt, went up the stage with Kris, while Cadiz mayoralty candidate Edgardo Acuña was seen in the rally site. Acuña’s poster was still displayed at the stage.

In Manapla, mayoral candidate Lourdes Escalante, who was wearing a yellow t-shirt, joined Kris on stage. Lourdes is the wife of the outgoing mayor Manolette Escalante, who was also present at the sortie.

In Victorias, the rally was held at the city's public plaza. There were more or less 5,000 people who were present at the rally site.

In EB Magalona, there were around 4,000 people and Kris introduced her make-up artist Jonathan to the crowd. She said Jonathan will come back here when Noynoy wins to teach interested groups about hair style.

Silay also had a crowd of 4,000. Most of them stayed on the street when they saw Kris. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
