LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Caretaker and ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Eric Go Yap is looking into the upgrade of Benguet Sports Complex in Barangay Wangal, La Trinidad by 2021.

In his recent visit in the province, Yap said they are eyeing funding of P165 million for the sports complex that will include installation of a rubberized tartan track in the oval, bleachers, and gym for athletes.

Yap added the P25 million upgrade of the covered court inside the sports complex is being sourced out.

In his speech, the lawmaker said once the Benguet Sports Complex will be developed, this will create opportunities for the province to host annual national sport events such as the Palarong Pambansa.

He added the improvement of the facilities will aid the province and help athletes in their training.

Yap stated the budget needs approval by President Rodrigo Duterte under the General Appropriations Act for 2021.

"Itong budget na ito ay for 2021. Just in case ma-aprubahan ng president at makapasok sa GAA ng 2021, January, February pwede ng ipa bid ito at ito kapag pina-bid personally babantayan ko po ito dahil gusto ko po talaga na masigurado na hindi nanakawin itong proyekto na ito," added Yap.

Construction of a swimming pool is being planned for 2022.

The Benguet Sports Complex serves as a training area for athletes. The complex, which houses a multi-purpose closed gymnasium, can accommodate around 8,000 patrons.
