Financial assistance P4.2-M Tupad payout released

AFFECTED by the Covid-19 pandemic, constituents from the 1st District of Davao City received their wages after working for community disinfection and sanitation within their barangays, and in repacking relief goods. With the minimum wage of P396, each of the 1,063 beneficiaries received the amount of P3,960 for the ten-day job.

The Tupad payout which amounted to P4,209,480 was facilitated at the People’s Park in Davao City on July 20, 2020. The strict and orderly implementation of social distancing was observed during the activity.

Tupad Program is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for the displaced workers, the underemployed, and the seasonal workers.

To avail of the program, displaced workers in the informal sector are encouraged to visit their Punong Barangays for inclusion in the list for future implementations.

“Dako kaayo ni og tabang namo oy. Unsaon na lang ang bugas, sud-an, ug ubang palitonon sa balay kon wala ni?” said Manong Lucio, a beneficiary from Catalunan, when asked how the cash would help him in this time of the pandemic.

According to Izabeth Villareal, LEO II of DOLE DCFO, the beneficiaries in this Tupad payout were not able to receive any cash assistance from other government interventions since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. (PR)
