CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built an off-site dormitory that will provide temporary shelter to medical personnel of Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH).

In a statement, Secretary Mark Villar said the facility has 16 rooms for 32 healthcare workers.

“Our DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of National and Local Health Facilities ensured that each of the air-conditioned rooms is equipped with double-decker beds for two persons with toilet and water heater for their safety and comfort," Villar added.

The newly completed dormitory is made of modular components fabricated with the middle space intended for the living room and common dining of frontliners. It also has a separate area for laundry and kitchen with available appliances.

“This is DPWH's way to show our support for healthcare workers of JBLMGH who are providing life-saving care to patients including referred employees of our Department with symptoms and confirmed Covid-19 cases,” DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of National and Local Health Facilities Head Undersecretary Emil Sadain said during Thursday’s turnover ceremony.

For her part, JBLMGH Medical Center Chief Monserrat Chichioco expressed her gratitude to DPWH for the off-site dormitory.

“This will keep safe the JBLMGH medical doctors and staff providing care and services,” she said.

JBLMGH caters to the people of Central Luzon with Pampanga as its primary-served area and the nearby provinces of Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Zambales and Aurora as secondary areas. (PR)
