POEA extends license validity of recruitment, manning firms

DUE to the extended imposition of general community quarantine (GCQ), the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has decided to extend for 30 days the validity of the expiring licenses of recruitment and manning agencies.

"The POEA has provided a temporary 30-day extension of the validity and renewal of their license/branch authority of recruitment and manning agencies, which expired or expiring during the GCQ," POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia said.

This means that agencies, whose license/branch authority had expired during the GCQ period from July 16 to 31, 2020, shall be extended until August 31, 2020.

"(This is) in consideration to the affected recruitment agencies that are unable to file their application for renewal, upgrading, and extension of licensed due to ongoing community quarantine," said Olalia.

The POEA chief said application for the renewal, upgrading, and extension of license, and renewal of branch authority must be filed within 30 calendar days from the lifting of the GCQ or the agency’s license would be revoked.

Olalia also stressed that the extension does not mean an automatic approval of the application for renewal, upgrading, and extension of license, and renewal of branch authority.

Each application is still subject to evaluation, review, and approval of the POEA. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
