Magalang minor tests positive for coronavirus

A MINOR is the eighth coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patient of Magalang town in Pampanga.

Mayor Romy Pecson said the youngster, who was named Patient M8, tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Municipal Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) said M8 was exposed to a Covid-19 patient.

"Patient M8, a minor from our municipality who was exposed to a confirmed positive patient tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus causing the Covid-19," the IATF stated.

The asymptomatic patient is now confined in a government facility, the task force added.

The local IATF did not provide details regarding M8's identity personal circumstances to protect the patient from discrimination.

Pecson assured the Magalang folks that the local government conducted a contact tracing.

The minor's "close contacts" were isolated in a government institution pending the result of their swab tests.

"We are asking every Magaleno to follow government protocols including the wearing of face masks, social distancing, proper hygiene, to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our municipality," the local IATF stated.
