Cagayan de Oro records 4 new Covid-19 cases

CAGAYAN de Oro has recorded four new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases involving two close contacts of the 123rd case and two returning overseas Filipino workers, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 148.

The 145th case is a 50-year-old female resident of Barangay Macasandig. She was swabbed on July 29 and the result came out positive on July 31. She is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Retuya said they have identified some close family contacts of the woman who were all advised to undergo quarantine.

The 146th case is a 31-year-old male resident of Barangay Macasandig. He has no history of travel and is asymptomatic.

The man was swabbed on July 29 and the result came out positive on July 31. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 145th and 146th cases are the close contacts of the 123rd case, the 48-year-old male Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR) and a resident of Barangay Macasandig.

According to Retuya, the 123rd case consulted with a private physician two days after he arrived home.

Four or five days after he arrived home, the man was advised to have his swab taken. He was swabbed on July 21 and the result came out positive on July 22.

"Wala ta naghimo og focused containment kay ato namang nahikling ang iyang pamilya nga karon nakita nato nga naa sila sa CIU (city isolation unit)," Retuya said.

The 145th and the 146th cases were among the close contacts who were brought to the city isolation unit after the 123rd case tested positive for the virus.

The 147th case is a 27-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Macanhan, Barangay Carmen. He arrived on July 17 in Manila where he was swabbed and the result was negative.

Retuya said he undergone quarantine in a hotel in Manila from July 17 to 22. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 23 and was swabbed on July 29. The result came out positive on July 31.

The 27-year-old man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 148th case is a 52-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Macanhan, Barangay Carmen. He arrived in Manila on July 16 where he was swabbed and the result was negative.

The man went through quarantine in a hotel in Makati City from July 16 to 21. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 22 and was swabbed on July 29. The result came out positive on July 31.

He is asymptomatic and currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

One Covid-positive patient has also recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered Covid-19 patients in Cagayan de Oro to 85.

Recovered is a 21-year-old female locally stranded individual (LSI) from Manila and a resident of Barangay 26.

Meanwhile, Retuya said the focused containment implemented in Barangay 35 is lifted on Saturday, August 1.
