Magramo, Nakatani fight moved

THE world championship fight between hard-hitting Filipino Giemel Magramo and unbeaten Japanese prospect Junto Nakatani was postponed again.

The fight is postponed indefinitely because of the current Covid-19 pandemic. According to a report posted on Fightnews.com, the Japanese goverment has strict regulations on letting foreigners enter the country due to the virus.

Magramo and Nakatani were originally scheduled to fight for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight belt on April 4, 2020 and was pushed back to Aug. 21. Now, the date of the fight is uncertain.

The 25-year-old Magramo is rated No. 1 in the WBO, while Nakatani is ranked No. 3.

The WBO flyweight belt was recently vacated by Kosei Tanaka, which paved the way to the world title fight between Magramo and Nakatani.

Magramo won back-to-back fights in 2019 with stoppage wins over Wenfeng Ge and Richard Claveras.

The 23-year-old Nakatani won all three of his fights in 2019. He’s coming off a technical knockout win over former world champion Milan Melindo.

Magramo is 24-1 with 20 knockouts, while Nakatani is 20-0 with 15 knockouts. (EKA)
