A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was brutally killed after she fought back against the suspected assailant who attempted to molest her inside a sugarcane plantation in Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City on Saturday.
The victim was a Grade 9 Junior High School student and resident of the same place.
Investigation showed the incident happened at around 10:00 a.m. when the victim was on her way to the house of her father in a nearby Purok where she was believed to have been followed by the suspect.
Based on the accounts of some residents, the victim may have been waylaid by the suspect or suspects and forcibly brought her inside the sugarcane plantation in an attempt to molest her however she resisted and fought back.
They said some of the residents heard the girl shouting for help.
She succumbed to multiple stab wounds at the different parts of her body.
A pair of slippers and a face mask were recovered by the police at the scene of the crime.
The Cadiz PNP has two persons of interest relative to the crime including a 19-year-old who was seen at the place when the incident happened.
