Land Tax Division office closed after employee tests positive for Covid-19

A GOVERNMENT employee assigned at the Land Tax Division’s Office at the Bacolod Government Center in Bacolod City was tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday that it was only determined on July 30 that the employee was tested positive for Covid-19.

He said 44 employees of Land Tax Division’s Office already underwent swab test and only three of their co-employees, who were not present for so long, will be subjected for a swab test today.

“On that night, when they learned that their co-worker was tested positive for Covid-19, all of them decided not to go home for the safety of their family members. They stayed inside their office and some of them are now in the quarantine facility of the city,” he added.

The mayor also ordered the temporary closure of the Land Tax Division’s Office for 14-days.

Leonardia said for the meantime, the payment for land tax will be accommodated by the Licensing Division of the City Treasurer’s Office.

“If you want to pay, the Licensing Division will take charge of receiving the payments,” he said.

Moreover, Leonardia said the personnel assigned at General Services Office (GSO), who was earlier tested positive for Covid-19, was already tested negative for the virus but, he’s still in the isolation center.

He said all the GSO personnel who underwent swab test were also tested negative of the virus.

As of August 2, Bacolod City has a total of 268 Covid-19 cases, 197 are active cases, 64 have recovered and seven deaths.
