23 houses in Barangay 14 sealed off

ABOUT 23 houses in Barangay 14, Bacolod City were sealed off after three persons in the area, including the barangay kagawad and a government employee, tested positive for coronavirus.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairperson of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against Covid-19, said Monday, August 3, that the barangay kagawad and his sister, and the government employee assigned at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center (BaysCenter), tested positive for the virus that causes Covid-19.

He said the sister of the barangay kagawad was working in a hospital in the city.

"There's a possibility that the barangay kagawad was infected by his sister," he added.

The three patients have no travel history.

Familiaran said the 23 houses were immediately sealed off for 14 days and disinfection was conducted.

He said the City Health Office (CHO) is now conducting contract tracing to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of Monday, August 3, Bacolod City has a total of 18 new Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 17 are returning overseas Filipino workers and one local case.

Meanwhile, Familiaran said the houses in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago that were earlier sealed off were already lifted.

He said several residents in the area underwent swab test and all of them turned negative for the virus.
