Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 159

THREE returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs) and eight locally stranded individuals (LSIs) have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 over the weekend, making them the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 159.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said all of the new Covid-positive cases were brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival in Cagayan de Oro. At present, they are now staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 149th case is a 35-year-old male ROF and a resident of Barangay Macabalan. He arrived in NAIA on July 18 where he was swabbed. The result came out negative on July 23.

According to Retuya, the man stayed in a hotel from July 18 to 25. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 26 and was swabbed on July 30. The result came out positive on August 1.

The 35-year-old man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 150th case is a 28-year-old male ROF and a resident of Barangay Puerto. He arrived in Manila on July 17 and stayed in a hotel in Cubao.

He was swabbed on July 18 and the result came out negative on July 24.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 24 and was swabbed on July 30. The result came out positive on August 1.

He is asymptomatic however, Retuya said the man has skin asthma.

The 151st case is a 35-year-old female ROF and a resident of Barangay Carmen. She arrived in NAIA on July 18 where he was swabbed and his test result was negative.

The woman stayed in a hotel in Ortigas from July 18 to 24.

She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 25 via plane and was swabbed on July 30. The result came out positive on August 1.

The 35-year-old woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 152nd case is a 51-year-old male LSI and a resident of Upper Balulang. Retuya said he traveled to Cagayan de Oro via land and arrived in the city on July 25.

He was swabbed on July 30 and the result came out positive on August 1.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 153rd case is a 26-year-old male LSI from Sampaloc, Manila and a resident of Barangay Camaman-an. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 23 and was swabbed on July 31.

The result came out positive on August 2. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 154th case is a 38-year-old male LSI and a resident of Barangay Camaman-an. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 24 and was swabbed on July 31. The result came out positive on August 2.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 155th case is a 41-year-old male LSI from Makati and a resident of Barangay Lumbia. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 26. He was swabbed on July 31 and the result came out positive on August 2.

The man is asymptomatic and has hypertension.

The 156th case is a 38-year-old male LSI from Mandaue, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Agusan. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on July 24. He was swabbed on July 31 and the result came out positive on August 2.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 157th case is a 36-year-old male LSI from Mandaue, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Gusa. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 24 via sea travel. He was swabbed on July 31 and the result came out positive on August 2.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. Retuya said he is the close contact of the 156th case.

The 158th case is a 34-year-old female LSI from Sta. Mesa, Manila and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on July 26.

The woman was swabbed on July 31 and the result came out positive on August 2. She is asymptomatic but with hypertension.

The 159th case is a 3-month-old female LSI from Sta. Mesa, Manila and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. Retuya said she is the daughter and close contact of the 158th case.

The girl was together with her mother when they traveled back to Cagayan de Oro. She was swabbed on July 31 and the result came out positive on August 2.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said Cagayan de Oro has 61 active cases, of which one is admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, seven are outpatients and 53 are ROF/LSI.
