DAVAO DEL NORTE -- The Agriculture Development Company (Tadeco) donated a brand-new Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine unit worth P2.7 million to Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) last July 27, 2020.

The use of PCR is the standard method of testing for Covid-19 at present.

Representing Tadeco, Human Resource Assistant Vice President, Zeaus C. Vadil handed over the PCR donation to Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib and to DRMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Bryan Dalid in a ceremonial turnover rites at the Provincial Capitol.

Vadil said the donation was done as a way to give back to the community.

“The motivation was to really help. We have this laboratory. Now that the DRMC is accredited, it’s about time that we give one to Davao del Norte. To give back to the community has always been our corporate social responsibility,” Vadil said.

He added that there was no request or agreement done between the two parties, and that it was purely a donation with the intention to help.

Meanwhile, Dalid said the timing for the donation was perfect since a molecular laboratory is being built and aimed to be completed by the end of August.

“Tama-tama gyud ni nga hapit na mahuman ang molecular lab so didto nato siya ibutang kung mag-start na ta sa operation sa RT-PCR testing center by the end of August (This is just the right timing, the molecular lab is nearing its completion, so we will put that there when we start the operation for the RT-PCR testing center by the end of August),” Dr. Dalid said.

He added that this will be of great help since locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who return to the province will still need to be tested even if they have already been tested in Manila.

On May 26, DRMC’s Covid-19 GenXpert Covid-19 testing was accredited by DOH.

DRMC is the only one running GenXpert Covid-19 testing catering Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro. (PR)
