Social welfare reaches out to 1 marginalized family

THE City Government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), has reached out and provided food assistance to one of the marginalized families in Ayala village, west of Zamboanga City.

The family was personally referred to the CSWDO by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

CSWDO Chief Socorro Rojas said the father, diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, suffered a stroke while the two children are with disabilities.

Rojas said the food assistance forms part of the initial services extended to the family to cope with difficulties amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Rojas said the financial assistance is being processed while the children are set to be included in the City Government's cash incentive for persons with disabilities.

She said the parents will also be enrolled for regular cash incentive for senior citizens. (SunStar Zamboanga)
