BAND members and their crew from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas have received awards after their music video bagged the second spot in the recently concluded nationwide “Online Got Talent Singing Competition” organized by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The awardees were Patrolman Michael Maquilan (singer); Patrolwoman Romea Joy Cesista (lyrics); PRO-8 Band (musical arrangement); Staff Sergeant Edward Cinco (drone operator); Patrolman Maiko Medino and Patrolman Arman Peliño (cameramen); and Patrolman Ruben Mila Jr. (video director/editor).

Brigadier General Bernabe Balba, police regional director, thanked the police officers “for bringing pride to the region” through the PRO-Eastern Visayas’ official and first-ever original music video “Isang Laban” which won in the competition.

The music video was created to uplift the morale of all the frontliners who are serving selflessly amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, according to police regional spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya.

“It aims to encourage everybody to continue fighting for their lives, their dreams and their loved ones in the midst of any crisis, calamities and disasters,” Rentuaya said.

The regional police officials also lauded the 27-year-old Maquilan, from Class “Kasangga,” for singing the “Isang Laban.”

A native of La Paz, Leyte, Maquilan also won in Tawag ng Tanghalan, Leyte Idol, Palo Singing Idol and other singing competitions.

Other top winners in the PNP’s “Online Got Talent Singing Competition” include National Capital Region Police Office, first place, and PRO-Bicol Region, third place.
