Top cops, stakeholders feted in Eastern Visayas

POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas Director Brigadier General Bernabe Balba awarded the top police officers, organizations and stakeholders in the region during the culmination of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month recently.

“We, in the PRO-Eastern Visayas, are grateful to the community for their untiring support to our advocacies most especially in the crime prevention and in these times of pandemic,” said Balba.

The awardees include Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO), Best PCR Police Provincial Office; Tacloban City Police Office-City Community Affairs and Development Branch, Best PCR Branch; 1st Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company, Best PCR Mobile Force; Baybay City Police Station, Best PCR City Police Station; San Policarpo Municipal Police Station, Best PCR Municipal Police Station; Major Margarito Solano, Best PCR Police Commissioned Officer; and Staff Sergeant Marynell Tizon, Best PCR Police Non-Commissioned Officer.

For the stakeholders, the awardees were lawyer Percival Ortillo of Marabut, Samar, local chief executive; DYVL Aksyon Radyo (Palo, Leyte), media; Chicken Essentials and Pure Choice Inc., business sector; Kabalikat Civicom, force multiplier; Department of Health and Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center, other government agency.

Balba also conferred a special recognition to the Regional Health Service-Eastern Visayas led by Lieutenant Colonel Techie Lebanan in partnering the Office of Police Community Relations with their community activities.

While ESPPO, Leyte Police Provincial Office and Ormoc City Police Office were awarded for winning during the PRO-Eastern Visayas singing and original songwriting competitions.

“We value winning so that our brothers and our sisters may become better. Wherever we are and whatever we do, as police officers, as government workers, as members of society, we should always seek to create, to innovate, to dare, to contribute, and to share,” added lawyer Johnson Reyes, regional director of the National Police Commission during the awarding ceremony.

For this year’s PCR theme, “Pinaigting na Ugnayan ng Mamayan at Pulisya Laban sa Covid-19 Pandemya,” PRO-Eastern Visayas intensified its community relations efforts amid the Covid-19 pandemic. (SunStar Philippines)
