APALIT -- The Pampanga III Electric Cooperative (Pelco-3) recently joined the power sector in honoring the unsung heroes of their field during the first Linemen Appreciation Day.
Pelco-3 recognized the roles of linemen, dubbed as the "Warriors of Light," in fulfilling the power sector's advocacy of improving the quality of life of its member-consumer-owners.

In this time of pandemic, Pelco-3 Board of Directors President Jun Sigua said Pelco-3 also ensures the safety of the linemen who brave the even the Covid-19 affected communities to provide continuous electric supply to consumers.
He said Pelco-3 provides protective equipment such as masks and face shields to linemen on field, and health standards such as minimum contact to residents is also advised to be observed.
During the celebration, all line workers received certificates and tokens of appreciation for their contributions and sacrifices in keeping the rural area's lights on despite natural and man-made calamities.
"Rain or shine and even during this pandemic, our linemen never wavered in providing service to our member-consumer-owners. Their continuous service has kept our houses and streets bright even at the darkest of night," Sigua said.
Sigua also said that the celebration is in line with House Bill 472, an "Act Proclaiming the First Monday of August of Every Year as Linemen Appreciation Day" filed by Philreca Partylist.
