Mexico mayor bans liquor, group drinking during fiestas

MEXICO, Pampanga Mayor Teddy Tumang issued Executive Order 41 on Tuesday, August 4, imposing a liquor ban on the eve and actual day of fiesta celebrations in all barangays of the town.

This is to prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus during such occasions.

Tumang said mass gatherings and group drinking are among the major factors for the local transmission of the coronavirus in many areas of the province.

The order requires all establishments and supermarkets to refrain from selling and disposing all kinds of alcoholic beverages during fiesta events.

Groups drinking in all households have also been prohibited.

The executive order was signed last August 4.
